Charlotte Gainsbourg “Anna (Moonlight Matters Remix)”

“Moonlight Matters is what happens when the sun goes down, The mood is right, and creativity is set loose…”

So reads the first line in Sebastiaan Vandevoorde’s biography for his alter ego, Moonlight Matters. For those lazy to read further, Vandevoorde has remixed tracks by artists such as Lana Del Rey, Metronomy, The Drums and of course, Charlotte Gainsbourg. They’re all pretty great, and add a touch of “smart-witted melody” (as he himself would say) to the original versions of the songs.

In general, I’m not too fond of remixes but this? I can live with.

Keep an eye out for his new EP (which was announced on his Facebook page last month) due out sometime in late May.

I don’t know about y’all, but I do believe you would be hard-pressed to find a better example of an artist taking one thing (and a beautiful thing at that) and creating a completely separate work of art (but isn’t that what art is anyway?)

Maybe Gainsbourg and Breakbot should get together some time. Just saying.

Charlotte is an amazing singer/songwriter.

Unfortunately, the first things that pops up when you search for her on last.fm is Good Charlotte.

I don’t know about you, but a part of me dies every time I see that band’s name. Wait, I’m not a hater. I swear. 

Charlotte is good. Great, even.

Well, I must say that Beck has been pretty hard at work at everything else besides putting out a new album (or maybe he is?). That’s ok though, since everything else he’s doing is shaping up to be great (cover artist extraordinaire & producer). Enough about him though, the real news here is Ms. Charlotte Gainsbourg’s awesome single. Yeah, that’s all folks.
