Clap Your Hands Say Yeah “The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth”

Ideally, I’d like to meet someone who’d listen to this (classic? Too soon?) song and say “Let’s clap our hands. And say, yeah”.

Really.

Mark Foster + A-Trak + Kimbra “Warrior”

Luche libre is pretty dope, albeit noticeably fake.  I’ve had the pleasure of working a luche libre event and it’s pretty rad.  You know what else would be rad?  If Kimbra married a certain Mr. R. Stache.

Kings of Convenience “Boat Behind”

Oh boy, let’s talk about favorites.

My favorite basketball team is the Golden State Warriors (and here’s 60 reasons why they shouldn’t be). My favorite dinosaur is the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Eggplants are my favorite vegetable. My favorite candy is, well, the jury’s still out on that one.

But my favorite music? Well that’s tough. Whenever someone asks me that question, I find that I must take a few seconds to evaluate the situation. Do they really care? And if they do, do they want the long version or the short version? Should I lie I say it’s Drake, or should I lie and say it’s some obscure band they’ve never heard of.

It’s such a loaded question, especially because these days music is so closely associated with not just musical preference, but (for better or worse) lifestyle as well.

Most of the time though, my answer is the Kings of Convenience.

Mainly because it’s so darn convenient.

Chairlift “Met Before”

Featuring the always lovely Front-woman Caroline Polachek as the dreamiest of classmates, Chairlift has released a new interactive (it’s so 21st century, bro) video for their song “Met Before”.

This trend towards a more pronounced presence of interactivity in music videos is exciting for a number of reasons, and seems like the natural progression for a society that is no longer happy with just being fed static content. We want to feel and interact with our virtual environment as much as we do with reality. With artists such as Bjork and Arcade Fire leading the way, the question is not if this is the future of music videos, but when this future will materialize.

I think there is a strong possibility I’ve been reading too many social media books again.

Regardless, this video is a lot of fun, and allows me to relive a time where the only decisions I had to make were “Find out why on page 82” or “Run away from it all to page 40”.
